Blue Havana News and cigar reviews coming soon!

Blue Havana News plans to begin reviewing cigars this week! The plan is to have 5 or 6 customers take 30-60 minutes on Sundays at our store to smoke and review new cigars. The cigars will be sold at cost or given away free by the cigar company. The first cigar we intend to review is La Aurora’s Don Lino Africa. Stay tuned for the review.

Don Lino “Africa” Cigar Review

October 20th, 2005

Our first cigar review kinda took place during the Falcon’s game last Sunday at the Blue Havana Lounge. We had a nice gathering of customers, so the Don Lino “Africa” cigars came out for smoking and review. This review will give you some general comments from the customers. In the future, I would like to list their names and comments, but this time I just wasn’t ready to review, watch the game, wait on customers and enjoy a cocktail.
The general comments about this cigar were very good. Everyone smoked the Temba 7.5 x 50, and believe me , none of my customers provided me with the descriptions found in the rigged cigar reviews we all read. What I was told is that the cigar was constructed very well, the beautiful wrapper enticed the smoker to carefully light up and slowly enjoy the taste and aroma. A few of the guys thought that this cigar was similiar to the Ashton VSG in looks and strength. The cigar was considered medium to full bodied and all but one had an even burn. With the execption of one customer, everyone said they would purchase the cigar again. The hold out will not be invited to the Don Lino “Africa” rolling event at Blue Havana on 12/2/05.
Well, this is it. I know this isn’t much information on the cigar, but we will get better at reviews in the future.

Humidors stacking up!

November 4th, 2005

The loyal staff of Blue Havana Cigars spent a few days in New Orleans (pre-Kartina) in August 2005. After a few nights of too many hurricanes and getting thrown out of the worst strip club in the French Quarter, we slowly made our way to the sales floor and spent too much money on a lot of humidors. So, the humidors started arriving today, Friday Nov. 4th. When all is said and done, we anticipate having over 200 humidors in the store ready for the holidays. Don’t buy off the internet until you see our selection and price, and remember as a local merchant we service what we sell ! Call for details! 770-886-5730

Colibri lighters defy logic

November 10th, 2005

OK, is it just me or does anyone else have serious problems with Colibri butane lighters? I remember the old days when a colibri lighter would last at least a week before service was needed. Today, it’s like buying a Chrysler. Take the lighter out of the store and presto! it doesn’t work. And you paid handsomly for it too! As a retailer, it is frustrating when you sell a Colibri and the customer brings it back to you for service. You want to help, but if you give the customer a new lighter, the one that doesn’t work goes back for service, but then you own it. I will not re-order Colibri lighters unless the quality improves. I’m stuck with a few. Check out Prometheus and Vector lighters the next time you are in the market for a new butane lighter.

Rocky Patel Smoker a Success !

November 24th, 2005

Wow! I’m just recovering from the Rocky Patel smoker that Blue Havana had a couple of days ago!. The event featured the new “Edge Lite” cigar from Rocky and was well received by all customers. The highlight of the evening was Terri Runnels, the beautiful spokesperson for Rocky Patel cigars. Everyone was impressed with her knowledge of cigars and her great attitude! We just received a large shipment of Rocky Patel products to restock after the party. Pick one up for the holidays! Call about delivery of “OLDE WORLD” by Rocky Patel.

Soprano’s Cigars are in the House!

December 1st, 2005

Blue Havana Cigars just received the much awaited and highly anticipated Soprano’s cigar’s from CAO! This is the only cigar product I had to sign a contract for promising not to sell them on the internet, to other cigar stores, distributor’s, etc. Are they good? A couple of customers smoked them and the answer is hell yes! bada bing. The brazilian wrapper is nice and oily and although it looks strong, it is very smooth. I would classify this as a medium to full bodied cigar that you won’t want to give up on. Get your roach clip out to hold the last quarter inch or so on this cigar! We have all 3 sizes in stock, but only 6 boxes total, so if you wait, you will not get one at Blue Havana! Price range: $11.00 - $16.00.

Don’t Buy Cigars at a Mall Store!

December 1st, 2005

I know, I know. Your at the mall. Your husband or boyfriend is at home watching football. You want to finish up all your Christmas Shopping, so you step into a Mall Cigar store to get that final gift! But WAIT! Here are the top 5 reasons to walk away and visit your local (Blue HavanaCigar’s) cigar store for that perfect gift!

Reason #5 Limited selection of Quality Cigars
Reason #4 Overpriced humidors and accessories
Reason #3 Poorly merchandised humidor and selling space
Reason #2 Lack of sales associates that have cigar knowledge
Reason #1 Over Priced Cigars ( they gotta pay for the over priced mall space)

Check out Blue Havana Cigars for a great buying experience and the best prices in North Georgia !
